I was lucky enough to capture this indecisive ewe and lamb on the top of the hill before making a break for it. I love the rural isolation it evokes, the natural contours of the land lead the eye towards the subject, and then beyond. The position of the subject is such that the trees fall in behind to ensure back to front is visually stimulating.

The composition here is key using the gradient and clear blue skies gives the impression of a lamb on the top of hill.

I was invited by a well known farmer in the Yorkshire dales to take photographs of his sheep & lambs. It was a glorious day, following him around on his daily feeding run I was lucky to capture this photograph, This photo works so well because it has balance, yes the fleece is looking a bit ragged, but it captures perfectly the essence of sheep farming, and what they strive to achieve.
